Friday Night Dance Party: Flume at WayHome 2017

The WayHome mainstage had its first electronic headliner on Friday night as Flume hit the stage with his dance inspiring set and turned the night into a full fledged party. People of all genders, races, and ages came together in the field at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds with no inhibitions, no worries, and to dance like no one was watching. And it was awesome.

With a light show to match the beats of his set, the Aussie performer/producer worked over the crowd from On Top at the start of his set to Free at the end. And at all points in between, he addressed the WayHome faithful, encouraging them to get their hands up and participate in the music as it washed over them.

For over an hour we saw girls on shoulders, felt the bass beat into our chests and through our feet, and long before the 75 minute set was over, we understood why WayHome brought 25 year old, Harley Edward Streten to play the main stage on the first night of the festival.

Check out more of Rannie’s photos from set, and hit play to listen to On Top and Free from Flume’s extensive library of dancy hits.

WayHome 2017 Weather Forecast!

WayHome is so close we can hear the music coming from the speakers. We’ve also started to pack… because we’ve been looking at the weather!

We’ve been told that there’s been an effort to create more shade at this year’s festival, which would be nice even with the more comfortable temperatures…

Squad WayHome Art and Music Festival

That’s right, the forecast is out for Oro-Medonte, and we’re over the freaking moon about it. Last year it felt like 10,000 degrees in the sun. But this year, we’re looking at 23° C all weekend long, and that would be amazing.

Keep track of the forecast as we get closer to the festival by clicking here!

WayHome 2017 Preview: Flume Top 5

Flume, aka Harley Edward Streten, the Australian electronic instrumentalist, DJ and producer is Friday night’s big headliner and with a 2017 Grammy win for the Best Dance/Electronic Album, he’s the headliner the festival needs to get the weekend started with a big bang.

Playing since the age of 11, a box of Nutrigrain cereal with a free music production disk was the catalyst that got him started in electronic music. His stage name comes straight from the Bon Iver song Flume and he chose it because it held personal significance for him and he thought it looked cool on paper.

We’re looking forward to seeing the crowd embrace Flume live.

Here are the top 5 Flume Videos to help you get ready for his set.

WayHome 2017 Lineup Announcement!

We’ve been waiting, all of us, patiently (mostly) for this day – and now it’s here…

WayHome has released the lineup for the 2017 music and arts festival, and the time is now to get excited for July 28-30 at Burl’s Creek.

With the release of their photo clues last week, WayHome started a conversation full of guesses, predictions, rumours and more. But now the guessing is over, and the planning can start. If you’ve already got your tickets for the festival, you’re hoping that some of the names on the list aren’t performing on stages at the same time (there are always hard decisions), and if you don’t have your tickets yet – it’s time to grab them so you can see Imagine Dragons, Frank Ocean, and Flume headlining on the weekend.

The last two years at WayHome have been a lot of fun. We’ve seen some amazing performances. We’ve seen some awesome totems. And we’ve witnessed the awesomeness of people coming together to enjoy music and art. The people, you people, that come to the fields and stages and campgrounds make this whole thing pretty cool.

Check the list of 2017 WayHome performers so far, and leave a comment telling us who you’re most excited to see.

And stay tuned – because we’ll have previews, interviews, and maybe even some badass contests leading up to the end of July.
