Get Ready for the Remix: Arkells’ My Heart’s Always Yours

If you’re old enough to remember buying CD singles, you remember the awesomeness that was single remixes. And if you’re not old enough to remember buying CD singles… we’ve got good news for you!

To all of our good fortune, there are four new remixes of My Heart’s Always Yours, the third single from Arkell’s Morning Report.

The song itself has performed well as a single, reaching #3 Canadian Alternative chart and #4 on the Canadian Rock chart… and if you love the original, there’s a very strong chance that you’re going to dig at least one of the remixes that have been released to go with it.

My Heart’s Always Yours (Remixes) Tracklist

1. My Heart’s Always Yours – Lights Remix
2. My Heart’s Always Yours – RubēHill Remix
3. My Heart’s Always Yours – Darcys Remix
4. My Heart’s Always Yours – Arion Remix

To pick tell which remix is the best is impossible – because they’re all unique enough to allow for everyone to pick their own favourite.

In the end we just really think it’s cool that we’ve come back to the idea of multiple remixes on tracks and having the chance to hear them as more than just dance tracks at a club.

Let’s hope that Arkells and their remixing friends are starting a trend and that we get more of this in the very near future from more of our favourite artists and songs.

If you have a favourite, leave a comment and tell us which it is. We want to know!

5 Quick Questions with Blitz//Berlin!

We had the chance to catch up with Martin and Tristan of Blitz//Berlin at OMDC’s Ontario JUNO Award Nominee Reception in Toronto… so we snagged them for 5 quick questions!

Many thanks to the boys for taking the time to stop to chat with us in a busy room, and congratulations to Blitz//Berlin on their 2017 Juno Award nomination for Instrumental Album of the Year for Movements 1.

Q1: Which Canadian artist would you most like to work with, that you haven’t had a chance to yet in your career?

B//B: Lights and Gord Downie.

We can’t argue with either of those choices. And while they may result in very different songs, we’d be into hearing both of them.

Q2: Which Canadian album would you choose to put on during a long road trip… on a loop.

B//B: Moneen: The Red Tree

The album was released in April 2006, making it 11 years old now – but it holds up.

Q3: What was the first concert you went to?

B//B: Martin – Sharon, Lois & Bram (which ended in tears – but in more “funny little kid” story than sad thing). Tristan – 1st concert he remembers not being allowed to go to… Swollen Members. (Mom said no way on that one)

Q4: What is your favourite thing about Ottawa?

B//B: Two things… 1) The SconeWitch (150 Elgin St) 2) Ghost hunting at the Château Laurier.

Q5: What Canadian artist do you think people should be paying more attention to?

B//B: Andy Shauf.

We don’t know Andy yet… but he’s nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and is on the bill for WayHome 2017 – and we’ll be watching for him!

Q5b: What is your prediction for the 2017 Toronto Blue Jays season?

B//B: No Playoffs 🙁
Too many home runs to make up… doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
