The Lovelocks: Born To Love Tour Q&A and Contest!

Two of our favourite women in Canadian country music are getting ready to hit the road on their first headlining tour in Western Canada… and it’s pretty darn exciting!

The Lovelocks (Ali Raney and Zoë Sparrow) have been working hard over the last few years, releasing two EPs and playing for all kinds of crowds across the country. But this time it’s different. This time they’re at the top of the list, with the spotlight shining brightly on their talent, and we know they’re going to be great.

There are eight dates on the tour, which means eight cities are going to enjoy the Born To Love Tour. We’re a little jealous to be honest with you.

Click here for dates and tickets!

To celebrate the tour we talked to Ali and Zoë about road life and have a sweet Q&A to share with you… but that’s not all.

the-lovelocks-tshirt-2016We’re also happy to be working with The Lovelocks and the MDM Recordings team to give away 2 CDs (The Lovelocks – EP and Born To Love) and a t-shirt from the band!

So, check out the Q&A with Ali and Zoë and then use the widget to earn up to 7 entries for your chance to win our #BornToLoveTour prize pack!

Ok ladies help us out here, we need some Lovelocks road life advice…

Q) What is the most important thing to pack for the road other than clothes and toiletries?

A) It’s important to pack a few small comforts from home when you’re living out of a suitcase! A few of our favourite things to stay close to home on the road would include: cozy slippers, a good book, that old comfy sweatshirt you’ve had since high school, and a favourite mid-afternoon treat. For Ali’s treat, it’s her earl grey cream loose leaf tea, and for Zoë it’s her LaraBars. And let’s not forget a few extra guitar and fiddle strings and batteries for any on-stage mishaps!

Q) Do you bring your own pillows or blankets with you when you hit the road?

A) Sadly we have to keep things compact when we’re on the road because not only are we flying/driving with our personal luggage, we’re also carrying a TON of gear. Unfortunately, pillows and blankets don’t make the cut.

Q) Who packs more for tour trips… Ali or Zoë?

A) The great thing about being in a band with your best friend is that you can sort of pack together. Usually we bring one suitcase each, and then we stuff another bag full of our shoes and accessories, which we tend to share. It keeps our own suitcases small, but maximizes the amount of stuff we can bring at the same time. DOUBLE FIST PUMP!

CCMA Awards 2016 The Lovelocks Green Carpet

Q) What is the 1 album you can put on to listen to on repeat on a long drive between cities and venues?

A) It’s all about the classics on the road! A little Johnny Cash, Dixie Chicks or that live Alison Krauss & Union Station record are all great for long drives!

Q) When you’re on tour, what is your favourite food to grab to treat yourself with?

A) Any sit-down, catch-your-breath, non-fast food meal that reminds you of a home-cooked meal is always a treat. It’s rare to actually eat a proper meal, so these are the moments that make you the happiest on the road!

Q) What is the best thing about hitting the road to play?

A) Seeing all that our beautiful country has to offer and meeting fans from coast-to-coast! There’s nothing like it 🙂

And, not gonna lie, we have a pretty good time road trippin’ together. We only get into a bit of trouble!

The Lovelocks Mod Club CD Release 2016

Q) What is the hardest part about hitting the road to play?

A) Definitely missing our friends and family back home, but we are lucky to live in an era where technology makes it so much easier to keep in daily touch while we’re on the road.

Q) We’ve seen the live show, it’s a whole lot of fun… in 50 words can you tell everyone what they can expect from a live show with The Lovelocks?

A) We are a female roots country duo that sings about all sides of love – the good, the bad and the ugly. Soaring vocals, killer harmonies, rootsy instrumentation with signature fiddle licks, and a high energy stage presence are key ingredients to our live show! You’ll also get the inside scoop with tales from the road and stories behind the songs! Come on out to the #BornToLoveTour and bring some friends along – the more, the merrier!

Please read the directions carefully to make sure that all of your entries are confirmed and count!

CMAO Awards 2016 Wrap and Photo Review!

Markham, ON – On a gorgeous Monday night, country music gathered to celebrate the Ontario artists and industry leaders that are making music so many of us are enjoying all across Canada at the Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) Awards!

CMAO Awards 2016 Jason McCoyFrom the red carpet to the award show, hosted by Jason McCoy (who was hilarious and engaging from start to finish, which was no surprise), it was a night of celebrations, surprises, amazing performances, and the chance to meet up with some of our favourite people in the country music world.

But most importantly it was a celebration… a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate just how great the country music in Ontario is. We are lucky to have great artists and producers and festivals and fans in this province, and this was a chance to recognize that.

We have a ton of photos from the CMAO awards, and we have the full list of winners for you too. But before that…

During the award pre-show, and throughout the night, we had a chance to talk to some of the artists in attendance, and we want to share some of the things we learned from them…

CMAO Awards 2016 Tebey★ Tebey was really excited to get up on stage and sing his new song, Old School, and thinks that it could turn into a real crowd favourite.

☆ Tebey also has big tour news coming for this fall… but it’s a secret right now, and we weren’t able to talk him into giving us any details. He’s sorry and we’re sorry – but we’re sure it will be exciting!

CMAO Awards 2016 Jason Blaine★ Jason Blaine is getting ready for the most exciting summer of his career with festival dates at Boots & Hearts, Pomeroy Guitars and Wagons, Lucknow Music in the Fields, and Smoke & Spurs + he’s playing with Rascal Flatts in Halifax, and more!

☆ Jason is also getting ready to golf with his 3rd annual charity golf classic coming up on June 14 at Pembrooke Golf Club. Click to learn more!

★ Runaway Angel had a great time on their radio tour for the release of their debut album No End In Sight.

CMAO Awards 2016 Runaway Angel☆ 2 of the 3 angels are all for fun stunt adventures… but 1 isn’t. We won’t tell you who, but if you have a guess we want to hear it!

★ Meghan Patrick has been rocking hard all over the country, and broke a guitar in Edmonton last week… but it will be fixed soon and ready for the summer.

CMAO Awards 2016 Meghan Patrick☆ Meghan will be at Boots & Hearts, Cavendish Beach Music Festival, CMT Music Fest, Ottawa Bluesfest, and she’ll be at the Calgary Stampede to open for Lady Antebellum. She’s excited and we’re excited for her.

★ Andrew Hyatt loves to work with his hands, and the wooden 6-pack holders he made last summer gave him a chance to marry his trades background with his 2015 EP, Never Back Down.

CMAO Awards 2016 Andrew Hyatt☆ If you want to hear more from Andrew call your local country station and request Me And A Girl And A Radio!

★ The Lovelocks have a packed summer that will take them to Havelock, Huntsville, Dauphin, Lucknow, and Tilsonburg… and they will also be at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto as part of Jim Cuddy’s Fort McMurray fundraiser on June 27. Click for more info!

CMAO Awards 2016 Ali Rainey The Lovelocks☆ Ali and Zoe are also very happy to have released Time After Time to radio. It’s their 1st cover as a single, and they couldn’t be more pleased with the way it turned out. We saw it live back in March, and if you haven’t heard it yet, you need to go find it.

★ The Reklaws will be MCing at Boots & Hearts this summer… extending the relationship that they’ve built with the festival. AND they’ll be taking the stage, which is always a good time.

Now, let’s get to the big info from the night… the award winners. HUGE congratulations goes out to both Jason Blaine and Cold Creek County for taking home 3 trophies each. And we’re also very excited for Leah Daniels who won the 2015 Rising Star Award and is now the 2016 Female Artist of the Year.

Autumn Hill at the 2015 CMAO Awards.

Autumn Hill at the 2015 CMAO Awards.

Over the last few years it’s been clear to see that Ontario is becoming a country music hotbed. Artists like Tim Hicks, Tebey, Small Town Pistols, Autumn Hill, and Kira Isabella have lit up country radio + stages all over the province, and across Canada… and it’s been awesome to watch.

2016 looks like it’s going to be another big year, and today we’re happy to help announce the Country Music Association of Ontario award nominees. All of the CMAO Awards categories are packed with talent, which makes things both exciting and difficult.

As voting members of the CMAO we won’t be sharing any predictions or votes in this post, but we can tell you that these categories are so hard to choose winners in that we have not agreed on more than a couple of our choices. Really, it’s not easy!

Tougher Than Love: Bobby Wills EP Review and Q&A

Bobby Wills is back!

Not that he ever left really, but every time an artist releases new music it feels like we’re getting them back after they’ve gone away for a little while.

Bobby Wills When The Lights Go Down Toronto-8020For the Calgary country singer it’s been nearly 2 years since his last album, Crazy Enough was released to the world, and now the follow-up EP, Tougher Than Love, is ready to come to fans and stick some songs in people’s heads.

The 6 track set of songs is a great showing of what Bobby offers to country music, a mix of uptempo tracks that you can sing along and stomp your feet and clap your hands to… and some slowed down moments that will drag you deep into a story and put your feelings at risk of being twisted in a knot.

Across all of the songs it’s easy to see that Bobby Wills is still in love with what he does. His voice is true, not trying to be something that he isn’t or hasn’t shown us that he can be in the past – but not sitting back on his past successes either.

Do you follow?

Lead single Won’t You Be Mine is already a Top 10 hit in Canada, and there’s a strong chance that 2 or more other songs on the EP make that kind of statement on the charts.

Bobby Wills Tougher Than Love Track List

1. 30,000 Feet
2. Down By The River
3. Won’t You Be Mine
4. Tougher Than Love
5. If It Ain’t Broke
6. You Lost Me There

If we’re playing a guessing game for the next single to come from Tougher Than Love we’re stuck between the choice of the title track and 30,000 Feet. Both songs are top quality, but are very different. If you’re holding our feet to the fire, we’d pick Tougher Than Love… and we’d be okay with that.

In the middle of all the work he’s been doing to promote the new EP, and being a dad and a Calgary Flames fan, Bobby took a few minutes to play along in a brand new Q&A about the new EP, the fan response to Won’t You Be Mine, and more for us. Check it out!

Q. A year ago you were crossing Canada on the When The Lights Go Down Tour (with Chad Brownlee and Jess Moskaluke), and this year you get to release new music to country fans, how busy has that year in between been for you?

A. It’s been a whirlwind! 2015 was an incredible year, and 2016, with the release of my new album Tougher Than Love, promises to be even crazier!!

Q. How happy are you with the 6 tracks that you’re releasing with Tougher Than Love?

A. I am very excited to share these songs with my fans! With each new project I like to mix it up a bit, integrating my sound with a little something new. On this album we experimented with various sounds and incorporated varied instrumentation; it was an incredible experience to create and record this album!

Bobby Wills Tougher Than Love EP ArtQ. The album art for the EP is different than a lot of what we see these days (you face isn’t on the cover!), and we dig it (not that we don’t love your face)… were you in on the design?

A. Geoffrey Hanson designed the album. He is an incredible talent!! He’s done work for Kings Of Leon, Robert Plant and Ryan Bingham (just to name a few). Honestly, I can’t claim any credit for design, the only instruction was to do something different than what we normally see. He crushed it!!

Q. Won’t You Be Mine is already a fan favourite, and people haven’t even heard the rest of the music yet… how great is to get that response to kick off a project?

A. It’s very cool! We performed it for the first time last summer during festival season. We were pretty confident it was going to work based on the fan reaction, it was wild!

Q. There’s a lot of great new music on the country scene right now, is there anyone that you’re listening to and loving?

A. The diversity that is country music right now is so great! I am listening to the new Lovelocks record a ton these days, along with Chris Stapleton. The Maren Morris record is killer as well.

Q. In 50 words or so, can you tell us what you hope country fans take away from Tougher Than Love?

A. The making of this album was fun, with a capital F, and I hope my fans enjoy it just as much! Mixing a little something for everyone, for me this album is a happiness-fuelled musical experience, exploring classic country sound with a modern edge. The tracks resonate with me, not only as an artist, but as a music lover as well. This album is about simply enjoying the music and sharing that joy with my amazing fans!

The Lovelocks Mod Club CD Release-2365We really dig the new music that The Lovelocks have given us on Born To Love, that’s why we gave it the review we did. And to see them all played live was a special treat.

And it was a special treat for the band as well. Ali and Zoe said many thank yous on Thursday night, and seemed very grateful to be playing in their hometown to celebrate what really was a special occassion for them. We know these women, we know they work hard, we know that they love their fans, and we know that they have a passion for everything they are doing – and to see that all come together and flow through their live performance was something special for us too.

Congratulations to The Lovelocks, they’re earned everything that has come to them so far, and everything that is on the way!

Now, check out some more photos and videos from The Mod Club, and stay tuned because more awesome things are coming soon!

Born To Love: The Lovelocks EP Review and Q&A

Two years in the making, The Lovelocks brand new Born To Love EP has finally arrived, and we couldn’t be happier for 3 reasons…

1) We’ve been waiting for new music from Ali and Zoe – and here it is.

2) The Lovelocks are truly lovely girls who deserve all of the good things that come to them.

3) It’s Good!

The Lovelocks CMAO Awards 2015-3907We’ve been lucky enough to have an early listen or 6 to the Born To Love EP, and we can tell you that this collection of 7 songs really is a great opportunity to enjoy music for a while.

From Born to Love at #1, to Lovely at #7, the combination of upbeat & fun and slow & sweet shows the range in emotions that comes from living life, and the ability for The Lovelocks to express and share parts of their lives with country music fans.

Born To Love EP Track Listing

The Lovelocks Born To Love Album Art1. Born To Love
2. Home Sweet Home
3. I Do Not
4. Radio
5. Simple Stuff
6. How Good I’m Gonna Love You
7. Lovely

There’s a chance that you’ve already heard a few of the tracks from the EP if you’ve been listening to Canadian country, or you’ve seen the girls live over the last little while. Singles Born To Love and Home Sweet Home have been well received… with Home Sweet Home holding the #1 iTunes spot for a Canadian country artist the week of its release in January.

And if you’ve seen the girls live any time since last March (when we saw them at Hugh’s Room in Toronto) you may have heard the sass-filled I Do Not.

As country music fans, please believe this, The Lovelocks have taken their time and gotten this right. This is not a rush job of an EP that was pushed out, this was measured and worked on and the result is music that they can be proud of, and that you can listen to and enjoy from start to finish.

If you’re looking for new music, and country is a genre you love, grab Born To Love on iTunes and take the time to listen to this EP. We’re willing to be that you won’t be disappointed.

Ali and Zoe took a few minutes out of their pre-release schedule to play some Q&A with us… so without any further ado, here we go!

The Lovelocks Boots and Hearts 2015

The Lovelocks Q&A

Q. I looked back and it’s been almost exactly 2 years since I picked up the 1st EP and we did our first Q&A… how great does it feel to be releasing this new music you’ve worked so hard on?

A. Wow. Time flies when you are having fun!!

Honestly – it’s like Christmas for us. We have been busy working on this album for almost a year now and it feels amazing to release our baby into the world! 😉

Q. Home Sweet Home has been a great start, and we know we aren’t the only ones who love it, how exciting was it to see that reaction from country music fans?

A. We were blown away to see so much support around this song, on both radio and Spotify. But the best part has been hearing back from our fans, many of whom have said it’s their favourite song by The Lovelocks so far. We couldn’t ask for a better response – and we are glad people love the song as much as we do.

Q. Last January when you started the Rockethub campaign for the Born to Love EP you also got a great response. Do you want to use a few words to talk about that process and the feeling of having that support roll in?

A. To be honest, we were nervous to crowd-fund again because we weren’t sure we could repeat the success from our first EP’s crowd-funding efforts. So, when we raised an additional $35,000 to record our second EP, we were truly humbled by our supporters’ generosity. It was a true testament to the loyalty and support of our fans. To date, we have raised over $65,000 which have funded both of our albums, and we literally wouldn’t be standing here without that support. We are beyond thankful.

Q. 2 Years ago we asked about the state of women on country radio, and it wasn’t really good then. How do you feel about the balance now?

A. You know what? Things are starting to look a lot better at radio for women in country these days. The pendulum is shifting back to a more balanced place, and we are certainly feeling the affects of that with our current single, Home Sweet Home. Country radio has been very quick to play it in Canada and we couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of bringing female artists back on to the radio.

Q. We’ve seen the Home Sweet Home video, and some of the behind the scenes content you’ve shared on social media… how much fun was it making that video with director Ben Knechtel?

A. Ben was so great to work with. He comes with a lot of vision, and we loved his concept for the video right away. He came up with the whole antique storeroom idea, and we absolutely knew it was what we wanted for the Home Sweet Home video as soon as we heard it. Ben has already seen a lot of success in his career with shooting music videos for artists like Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”, but he’s a super young and talented guy with a fresh take on what music videos can be. We really enjoyed the shoot day and are so happy with the final product!

Q. Spring and summer usually mean a lot of new live show announcements, anything you can tell us about your plans to get up on stage in the next few months?

A. We are beyond excited about our Album Release Party, coming up this Thursday, March 10th at The Mod Club (doors open 6:30pm). Beyond that, we’ve got some good things cookin’ and fans can keep their eyes peeled by following us on social media and signing up for our e-newsletter, where we usually announce these things first –

Q. Last one, in 50 words or less, tell us what you hope people get out of the music you’ve shared on the Born to Love EP.

A. Joy! We put so much love into the making of this record, and we hope it makes people feel truly happy when they listen to it.

Thanks again to Ali and Zoe, find them at these fine internet locations…

Christmas Q&A with Bobby Wills, The Lovelocks, and Tim Chaisson!

Christmas is so close we can taste the turkey!

Sure, there’s no snow on the ground here, but we’re in the spirit. And we’re not alone! Are you ready?

This year we’re celebrating with some Q&A fun thanks to some of our favourites in Canadian country music. We tried it last year and had a ton of fun with Tim Hicks, Kira Isabella, Runaway Angel, Meghan Patrick, and Riki Knox… and in part 1 of this year’s Q&A we talked to High Valley, Cory Marquardt, and Livy Jeanne!

So, here’s part 2 of our Canadian Country Music Christmas Q&A with Bobby Wills, Ali & Zoe of The Lovelocks, and Tim Chaisson!

Let’s start with an easy one… do you have a favourite Christmas Carol or hymn?
When The Lights Go Down Toronto Bobby Wills-8043Bobby: Silent Night. The lyric and melody are the perfect match, it is a powerful song.

Ali: I do love that Mariah Carey “All I Want For Christmas” song, which seems to officially kick off the Christmas season for me every year. I also love some of the older gems, who drum up a little more nostalgia from my childhood Christmases, like Bing Crosby.

Zoe: It’s honestly impossible to pick just one! I am still in love with Jewel’s whole Christmas album!  Nothing compares!

Tim: I always loved O Holy Night, especially when there’s some nice 3 part harmonies going on in that chorus.

Food is a big part of the holiday process, will you tell us what your favourite part of Christmas dinner is?
Tim Chaisson February 2015Tim: My mother’s stuffing! It’s to die for.

Bobby: We have a weird tradition of doing Lasagna on Christmas Eve, not sure exactly how or when it got started….

Ali: I gotta go with the classic turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. But I also love forcing everyone to wear their tacky paper crowns and taking embarrassing photos. 😉

Zoe: Dessert. For sure.

Let’s take it back a little with this one. What was your #1 present when you were a kid?
The Lovelocks Boots and Hearts 2015Zoe: I remember getting a pogo ball. Best. Gift. Ever.

Tim: The GT! We went bonkers for those every year.

Bobby: I have a strong memory of a remote control motorcycle with a Jump….

Ali: We were surprised with a trip to Disney World one year. That was super memorable, and such a dream come true for a kid!

Maybe this one will take us back too… do you have a favourite Christmas movie or TV special?
The Lovelocks Boots and Hearts 2015Ali: It’s either “The Holiday” or “Home Alone”. Both just put me in such a festive mood!

Zoe: White Christmas – I watch it every Christmas Eve!

Tim: The Grinch was something we always watched as kids, but Elf is a more recent tradition. Quickly becoming a classic!

Bobby: Christmas Vacation – gets funnier every year!

Last one, and we think we’ve saved the best. What is your favourite celebratory drink when you’re celebrating during the holiday season?
EggnogBobby: I don’t really have a favourite. My kids all LOVE Eggnog but I can’t even be in the same room with it…

Ali: I don’t like egg nog either. Bring on the mulled wine! 😉

Zoe: Definitely not egg nog. Definitely spiked hot chocolate 🙂

Tim: Spiced Rum and Egg Nog! Yum.

Big thank you to Bobby, Ali, Zoe, and Tim for playing along… we wish them all a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you. Be Awesome!

Bright Lights, Big Country: Jess Moskaluke, Madeline Merlo, The Lovelocks & Friends in Toronto

On a Thursday night, at the start of the Holiday Season, country music fans from across the GTA packed The Phoenix Concert Theatre for a busy night of music from new artists, radio favourites, and free pizza.

The Bright Lights, Big Country show (hosted by KX96, KX94.7 & Pizza Nova) brought 7 artists to the stage, including 2015 CCMA Rising Star, Madeline Merlo and 2014 & 2015 CCMA Female Artist of the Year, Jess Moskaluke – and from 8 to 11:30 the place was in a constant state of happy as fans sang and clapped and danced along to the songs coming from the speakers.

Note: We sat down with Madeline Merlo pre-show to talk about 2015 highlights, plans for 2016, Christmas, whiskey, and more. Check it out HERE!

Eric Ethridge Bright Lights Big City Toronto The PhoenixThe Bright Lights, Big Country show did a great job of keeping the action hot on stage by bringing up 3 emerging artists for showcase opportunities. Eric Ethridge, Dani Strong, and Sykamore all hopped up to sing one song each for the crowd, and none of them disappointed.

Keep any eye on Eric Ethridge in 2016, this dude has got the sound and energy and look to end up on more stages and more venues, and in front of more people as he continues to make a name for himself. And here’s a little shoutout to Travis Wood and Gavin Slate for writing the song that Eric sang on Thursday night, Lips Don’t Lie. Keep an ear out for that one.

The night of country was kicked actually kicked off with a little acoustic fun from another rising star, Jesse Labelle.

Labelle came out to greet the crowd, guitar in hand, and did a great job of warming up the crowd. Why Wouldn’t We and Heartbreak Coverup for feet moving and smiles on faces… and then the big pop came when Jesse invited an old friend up on stage to turn up the heat.

Mike Robins (one half of Autumn Hill, who had a HUGE 2015) added his voice and guitar and screaming fans to the mix, and together with Labelle, belted out Tom Petty’s Free Fallin’ and Keith Urban’s Somebody Like You. It was a treat for the fans, and it certainly looked like the boys enjoyed it too.

After Mike left, Jesse finished things off with Some Kind Of Good. A pretty apt description of his set.

Also with a full band set, playing a hometown show, and doing a great job of it, were The Lovelocks.

Ali and Zoe have been hard at work making new music, playing shows all over the place, and sending out Christmas cards to supporters over the last little while, so it was extra nice to get a hello and hug backstage before the show… but the real treat, as always, came when they took the stage.

With a nice selection of songs we’ve heard the girls sing before, including I Do Not, Dance, and Born To Love PLUS a cover of Joni Mitchell’s River, we got songs we could sing along to and a little taste of Christmas.

We can’t wait for the new music coming from The Lovelocks in 2016, and for more live shows to enjoy.

Madeline Merlot Bright Lights Big City Toronto The PhoenixNext in the feature spotlight was 2015 CCMA Rising Star, and overall sweetheart, Madeline Merlo.

Madeline took the stage with her band and got a nice pop from the country fans in attendance, which must have made an impact because it didn’t take long for her to look out and say, “Wow, there’s a lot of people here!”.

Madeline mixed her songs with a little cover action to put on a fun little set at The Phoenix. Originals including I’m Alive, Sinking Like A Stone, and Honey Jack, paired well with a taste of Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind and a funky mash-up of Miley’s We Can’t Stop and Sam Hunt’s House Party.

There are bigger stages coming for Madeline, and a new record in spring 2016 is going to give her more fuel for the fire, and the crowd more to sing along to.

Jess Moskaluke Bright Lights Big City Toronto The PhoenixLast, but 100% certainly not least, was the Bright Lights, Big Country headliner, back-to-back CCMA Female Artist of the Year, Gold Certified, sweetheart of a person, Jess Moskaluke!

It was easy to see that this was what the crowd had been waiting for when the noise level and energy in the room found new heights as Jess grabbed her microphone. And she didn’t waste any time getting in gear and rewarding them for waiting for her turn.

We’ve seen Jess a few times, on stage and off, over the last couple years, and we can tell you that she is getting better and better and better each and every time. The power in her voice rings through the speakers and right to your music loving ears, her energy reflects that of the crowd, giving it back and not just taking what she’s being given, and she looks happy to be doing what she’s doing.

Jess Moskaluke Bright Lights Big City Toronto The PhoenixThursday night was Jess Moskaluke’s first headlining show in Toronto, and much of the MDM Recordings family was there to see it. It was a celebration of success and love for a woman who is leading the way for a new generation of female singers in Canadian country. It’s pretty safe to say that they’re all pretty proud of her – and it won’t be the last time she anchors a concert in the GTA.

Before we get to the set list we have to tell you the little secret Jess told us all… the new single, coming in the not too distant future, will be Elevator, which is an awesome choice from the Kiss Me Quiet EP. AND to close out the show, during the encore of Cheap Wine & Cigarettes, Ms. Moskaluke got an assist from labelmate and crowd favourite, Chad Brownlee. It was a great way to end a great night of country music in Toronto.
