It’s Summer, How About A Picnic?

Picnic Tables SetSummer is here and it’s time to get outside, have a picnic, enjoy the sunshine and avoid the ants.

The question is, what are you going to eat?

There are a ton of options available for your picnic loving. You can go the pot-luck route, which can be amazing if everyone that you invite brings a tasty dish and nothing is forgotten or doubled up too often. If you’re going to go with pot-luck I would most definitely recommend planning things out and having everyone sign up to bring something. The fastest to reply to the request get their pick of what to bring, and the slowest to reply get to bring what’s left. Nothing missed, no double ups, everyone wins.

Note: Please make sure that you have potato salad on the list. A picnic needs to have some potato salad. I think we can all agree on that fact.

Now, these outdoor feasts may include your family at the summer reunion, they might be with your friends in a park on a sunny Saturday afternoon when there’s no excuse not to be out in the warm air, or they could be work lunches to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, etc. No matter what your reason, there are times when you don’t want to have the guests take care of all of the food. Sometimes it’s a whole lot easier to just make a place an order, get some of everything and invite people to bring their own special snacks and desserts to share with the rest of you. If you do want to look at making an order might I suggest you take a look at Subway sammiches for a cheap catering in Toronto option.

If sandwiches aren’t your cup of tea you can always bring the portable grill and fire it up to get the burgers and sausages and hot dogs ready for everyone. There’s something special about the sound and smell of the BBQ in action. Remember that you’re going to need buns, mustard, relish, pickles, onions, ketchup and BBQ sauce if you take this path. Without them, you’re going to have sad faces and bad tweets to deal with. And nobody wants that. I don’t want that for you. So please double check that you’ve got everything before you start grilling.

If you’re really adventurous you can do what we’ve done in the past and grab take out in one huge order and bring it to everyone in the park. There was a lot of fish and chips that night – and it was totally awesome. I hope we do that again. Who’s in?

Lastly, and perhaps even more important than the potato salad, don’t forget the pie.

Thank you, enjoy your picnic!
